What does Kermit the Frog have in common with Christians? For Kermit, it’s not easy being green. For Christians, it’s not easy to follow Paul’s instruction found in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
It is a short passage of scripture that contains an seemingly impossible task: be joyful always, pray continuously, give thanks in ALL circumstances.
It’s not always easy to say “Thanks.”
It isn’t easy to say “Thanks” for the hard stuff. It’s hard to “Praise the Lord…anyway” when every fiber of our being is being assaulted…when we can’t even lift our head.
It’s not easy to rejoice always.
It isn’t easy to rejoice always. There is just too much pain and tragedy and suffering to slap a smile on our face and go about our day like everything is OK.
It’s not easy to always be joyful
It isn’t easy to keep on keeping on when the whole world (or at least your little corner of it) seems determined to do you in.
BUT… we don’t have to do any of this alone. We have each other to lean on for strength…for support…for comfort…for faith…for prayer.
