We Are the Church

We are the Church-the Body of Jesus Christ. What does that mean to you and me and us as a congregation? Why is the Church today so different from its New Testament parent? Can it change? Should it? During our series We Are the Church, we are going to look at what it does mean and what it should meant to us and our world.

The basis of this series of messages is that we are a “covenant community.” A covenant is a contract between two parties. As a Church, or “contract” is between us and God, but it is also a contract with one another. The covenant nature of the Church means that we are responsible to — and for — each other. We need each other. We are INTER-dependent. While we are capable of “doing our own thing,” we very much need each other for support, guidance, encouragement and concern.

I need your prayers, concern and support every bit as much as you need mine. We need God, but He also needs us to be His voice in His hands–His feet in the world. We are a covenant community, mutually INTER-dependent on God and each other.
