We offer many ways to get involved in the life of the church, and in our greater community. If you have artistic talents, cooking experience, organizational skills, computer experience or any other gifts, we can always find something useful and enjoyable for you to do at Maple. Maybe you would like to sing in the choir, do lawn or garden work, work with the children, or participate in the worship service -- let us know and we will help you find a way to volunteer.
Missions are important to this church. We routinely contribute to United Methodist-designated missions such as: Native American Sunday, Student Sunday, Human Relations Sunday, One Great Hour of Sharing, Peace with Justice Sunday. We also contribute to Redbird Mission and Heifer International.
Here are some hands-on mission projects you may want to participate in:
NE FOOD PANTRY: Every month we designate a Food Pantry Focus and bring in specific food items that the NE Food Pantry needs. Did you know that the N.E. Food Pantry is the ONLY Pantry that carries diapers and baby food? And is the only one that is open five days a week?
SHARE DINNERS: Quarterly we provide a free meal to individuals from the Share Center. We also post an invitation to those visiting the N.E. Food Pantry. We serve a hot meal to over 100 people and can always use help to cook, serve, and clean up.
TRUNK OR TREAT: Every October 31st we open up our car trunks and pass out treats to the trick-or-treaters. We also serve hotdogs and a snack. Not only are we providing a safer environment for the children, but our neighbors are getting to know us.
CROP WALK: In September, we participate in the CROP WALK. Join the walkers or the rockers (those who choose to rock in a rocking chair instead of walking) or support them with your contribution.
HOLIDAY BASKETS: For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we provide everything for a holiday meal for families in need. Although the number varies, we usually support six families of various sizes. At Christmas time, we also include gifts.
CHARITABLE UNION: Every winter we collect mittens, hats and socks to give to the Charitable Union.
SALVATION ARMY MEALS: Some of our congregation help out serving lunches at the Salvation Army once a month.
